Verified Performance
AIR has a fully equipped laboratory for doing instrument setup, configuration and testing prior to delivery. During the testing process, we document an instruments operational performance. Documentation and verification of performance involves generating hardcopy reports and often involves the videotaping of equipment. We videotape for shipping and insurance consideration but also because it substantiates our hard work and commitment to instrument performance.
We want all of our customers to feel comfortable with their purchase. If you are considering a purchase from us, we invite you to visit our location and see "your instrument", working, on our bench, prior to purchase. We know that this is sometimes impractical but for first time buyers, local clients in the Rocky Mountain Region and for large purchases, this option is an outstanding opportunity for our customers to verify an instruments performance before making an important financial commitment.
Under very specific circumstances, AIR does sell instrument and equipment that have not been refurbished or tested. When we do this, we always go out of our way to make sure we have accurately represented an instrument to the perspective buyer. If AIR sells an instrument without testing, the price is usually quite low and it is possible that the item is "non-operational". There are only a few reasons why we sell instruments or components that have not been tested.
These reasons are as follows:
- An instrument is known to be broken and is being sold "as parts"
- An item is obsolete and is sold for such a "low price" that it is not cost effective for AIR to test the item. Essentially these items are being sold to our clients with a "refund option". If an item doesn't work, we refund your money. The client, however, assumes the "time wasted risk" in the event that the item being sold is broken. AIR sells such item as old computers, and AA lamps under these sales conditions.
- An instrument is missing a critical expensive component that is necessary for doing a performance test and this instrument is not a "typical instrument" sold by AIR (most often the missing component is a computer data system or the software). Rather than investing a large amount of resources into such a project, AIR will sell these items with full disclosure and at a substantial discount.
